Greywater Recycling Systems

Greywater recycling systems treat water from showers, washbasins and laundry for reuse in toilet flushing, irrigation and cleaning.

Greywater is the relatively lightly polluted wastewater from showers, bathtubs, washbasins and laundry. Instead of sending it to the sewer, a greywater recycling system treats it on site so that it can be reused for non-potable purposes such as toilet flushing, landscape irrigation and floor cleaning.

Where Is It Used?

Hotels, holiday villages, residential complexes, dormitories, sports facilities, office buildings and any building with high shower and laundry use.

How Does It Work?
  • Collection and screening: Greywater is collected separately and coarse solids and hair are removed.
  • Biological treatment / membrane filtration: Organic matter is broken down, typically with MBBR or MBR technology.
  • Filtration: Remaining suspended solids and turbidity are removed.
  • Disinfection: UV and/or chlorination make the water hygienically safe for reuse.
  • Storage and distribution: Treated water is stored in a separate tank and supplied through a dedicated, clearly marked piping network.
Benefits
  • Significant reduction in fresh water consumption and water bills
  • Lower load on sewer and wastewater infrastructure
  • Supports green building and sustainability goals
