Ultrapure Water Systems
Ultrapure water systems produce water with extremely low conductivity for laboratories, pharmaceuticals, electronics and high-pressure boilers.
Ultrapure water is water from which practically all dissolved ions, organic compounds, particles and microorganisms have been removed. Its quality is measured mainly by conductivity/resistivity (down to 18.2 MΩ·cm), TOC and microbiological limits. It is required wherever even trace impurities would affect a product, an analysis or equipment.
Applications
Pharmaceutical production (purified water), laboratories, hospitals and dialysis, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, cosmetics, high-pressure steam boilers and turbines, and battery production.
Typical Treatment Train
- Pretreatment: multimedia and activated carbon filtration, softening or antiscalant dosing
- Reverse osmosis: single or double pass RO to remove the bulk of dissolved salts
- Electrodeionization (EDI): continuous polishing without chemical regeneration
- Mixed-bed ion exchange: final polishing to the highest resistivity
- UV and final filtration: TOC reduction, microbial control and particle removal
- Storage and loop: hygienic tanks and recirculating distribution loops
Monitoring
Online conductivity/resistivity, pH and flow measurement keep the quality under continuous control, and alarms warn before the water goes out of specification.
